Although he’s played more games at small forward than teammates Donté Greene and Francisco García, he was benched for three games of the last five-game road trip in favor of those two players.
The Kings won all three games when he was benched.
“It’s not easy for me to sit on the bench, which has happened to me quite a bit in Sacramento’s last few games,” Casspi said according to the Jerusalem Post. “I’m a player who lives the game and as soon as you take away the thing I love the most in the world – playing basketball, it is hard for me.”
Casspi is the first and only Israeli to be drafted in the first round and play in the NBA. Happy to be put back on the floor, he sparked the Kings’ 116-113 win over the Phoenix Suns, scoring seven points playing the entire fourth quarter, the only quarter he played.
