Small writes weekly recaps on the Sacramento Kings on Sac Midtown, a hyper-local news site launched Oct. 18, 2010 focused on Midtown Sacramento.
He was asked in June 2010 by the site’s editor, Jimmy Spencer, to write for the site.

Sacramento Press
In December 2009 Small was asked by the Sacramento Press, a hyper-local online newspaper focused in Sacramento and its surrounding areas, to work with the Sacramento Kings’ Tyreke Evans for NBA Rookie of the Year (RekeROY) campaign.
The campaign ended in late April 2010 after Evans won the Rookie of the Year award.
As a community contributor, I’ve written on SacPress since October 2009, writing over 50 stories.

The Express and College Internships
During the Fall 2009 semester, Small wrote for Sacramento City College’s award winning journalism program. He started with the online student publication SacCityExpress.com, writing for news and sports.
One of his stories earned him a 2010 JACC Sports Game Story Honorable Mention.
In the Spring 2010 semester, he switched to the school’s print publication The Express, focusing solely on sports.
He also held four internships with three media outlets.

Media Communications Academy
Small started his journalism career in the Media Communications Academy at Center High School. He participated as an producer, reporter, editor and photographer on the school’s television broadcast Channel 25 News.
