Kings sunk by playoff-bound Grizzlies

Posted by rc360 on April 9, 2011

The Sacramento Kings looked like they weren’t going to be able to come back against the Memphis Grizzlies, but somehow they still made the game watchable down the stretch.

Even though the Kings were down by as much as 12 points in the fourth quarter, the Kings brought their deficit down to a one possession game. Marcus Thornton scored seven of his team-high 18 points for the Kings in the final 2:31 of the game.

Memphis went to shoot a pair free throws three times and missed the second of each pair and keeping the Kings alive. Sacramento came up short when Tony Allen blocked Tyreke Evans shot and Zach Randolph sank a pair of free throws.

The Griz clinched their first playoff berth in five years, beating the Kings 101-96.

Samuel Dalembert had 17 points and a game-high 16 rebounds for the Kings and Jason Thompson had 15 points and 12 rebounds.
